Yakima Clean Buildings Tier 2 compliance
Clean Buildings Tier 2 covers the whole state, including Yakima. Apartment buildings of 20,000+ sq ft have to report to Commerce by July 1, 2027. We handle it for you, mostly from your utility data.
How you pay
We do the work. You get paid.
Participating utilities pay you an early adopter incentive of $0.30 per sq ft (more for some multifamily buildings), and our fee comes in under it, so most owners come out ahead. On a 30,000 sq ft building, the base incentive is $9,000.
Incentives are paid by participating utilities while funding lasts.
What it looks like in Yakima
- Statewide rule: Tier 2 applies the same way in central Washington
- Your utility data: we gather 12 months of electric and gas use from Pacific Power and Cascade Natural Gas for benchmarking, with your authorization
- Done remotely: the plan and O&M program are built from your bills and building details, with a site visit when needed
Local utilities: Pacific Power (electric), Cascade Natural Gas (natural gas) and the City of Yakima (water, sewer and garbage).

Questions owners ask
Does Tier 2 apply in Yakima?
Yes. The Clean Buildings Performance Standard is statewide. Multifamily buildings of 20,000+ sq ft and nonresidential buildings of 20,000–50,000 sq ft have to report by July 1, 2027.
Can you help from the west side?
Yes. Most of the work comes from your utility bills and building details, so we can do it remotely and schedule a site visit if needed.
Can I get rebates from Pacific Power or Cascade?
Often. Both run efficiency programs. Tell us what you're planning and we'll check.
