Clean Buildings Tier 2 compliance in Kent, Renton, Federal Way and Auburn
South King County has some of the state's largest stock of mid-size apartment buildings, and those of 20,000+ sq ft have to report under Clean Buildings Tier 2 by July 1, 2027. We do the work and file it for you.
How you pay
We do the work. You get paid.
Participating utilities pay you an early adopter incentive of $0.30 per sq ft (more for some multifamily buildings), and our fee comes in under it, so most owners come out ahead. On a 30,000 sq ft building, the base incentive is $9,000.
Incentives are paid by participating utilities while funding lasts.
What it looks like in South King County
- Close by: we're based in Kenmore and can walk your building in person
- We know PSE: most buildings here are on Puget Sound Energy, the same utility as our own buildings, where we've secured more than $800,000 in incentive funding
- Garden-style complexes: coverage is per building, so we check each building's square footage, not just the property total
Local utilities: Puget Sound Energy (electric and natural gas) and city or district water and sewer, such as Kent, Renton, Auburn and Lakehaven Water & Sewer in Federal Way.

Questions owners ask
My complex has several smaller buildings. Is it covered?
Coverage is per building. A property with several buildings under 20,000 sq ft each may not be covered, even if the total is larger. Send us the details and we'll check each one.
Which cities do you cover?
Kent, Renton, Federal Way, Auburn, Burien, Des Moines, Tukwila, SeaTac and the rest of King County. We work statewide too.
Can you combine Clean Buildings with PSE rebates?
Yes. The upgrades in your energy management plan often qualify for PSE's multifamily incentives, and we file both.
